Exciting Adventures on Friday: my Shakespeare class went to Stratford! We took a brief tour of the town, seeing exciting things such as the basement of Shakespeare's house, the chapel he probably went to if he was too lazy to walk to church, and his daughter's husband's house! This was unfortunately the least exciting part of the day, as it SNOWED. The ENTIRE TIME WE WERE OUTSIDE. I seriously thought I was going to get frostbite and have all my toes fall off. It was very WOE.
However, we then got a backstage tour of two of the theaters (which were back-to-back) which was pretty cool, even though those weren't the theaters we where were seeing a play. Then we ate dinner at a fish and chips place, which was delicious, and went to the Other Place Theater (PS, best name ever) to see Henry VI, Part 1, which was full of AWESOME. For costuming, they went for this vaguely-period look crossed with long swooping coats (always a good choice), and for staging, they evidently felt like Shakespeare wasn't vertical enough, so they had lots of climbing on ladders and swinging down from the ceiling. It was really cool. The acting was superb. Overall, the production was quite awesome, although you can really tell 1HVI was one of Shakespeare's early plays (and hence not as good as some of his other stuff). When someone recited the line about the "bad, revolting stars" I snickered and thought of Sandman.
In conclusion: it rocked on toast.
Anyways, I finally gave up and downloaded Heroes and SPooN. ( Babble about Heroes... )
( ... and SPooN )
Speaking of SPooN, what is more awesome than SPooN or the Weekly World News? SPooN AND the Weekly World News! This is totally the MOST AWESOME THING EVER. Don't read too closely if you don't want to be possibly spoiled for this week's episode though. I CANNOT WAIT. WWN/SPooN OTP4EVAOMG!!!!!1!3.14159265!!cos(0)!
In conclusion: The Chicken That Is Not a Chicken. Oh, Terry Goodkind. Sometimes you were actually kind of good, sometimes you suck, sometimes you are on crack, and sometimes, you are hilarious. I remember reading this on the bus on the way to school and almost dying from repressed laughter. Good times.
