For Meera: One place from a Jane Austen Novel

"Every body connected with Bath may remember the difficulties of crossing Cheap-street at this point; it is indeed a street of so impertinent a nature, so unfortunately connected with the great London and Oxford roads, and the principal inn of the city, that a day never passes in which parties of ladies, however important their business, whether in quest of pastry, millinery, or even [...] young men, are not detained on one side or other by carriages, horsemen or carts."
-- Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey
It's funny 'cause it's (still) true. Many a time I've almost been cut down in the prime of my youth on a quest for groceries. Well, once at least.
For Kirstin: My room

Allyson's side of the room. Also, my feet.

My side of the room.

Our "desks" and our very large window.

Our very transparent shower, before. They called our room the "Voyeuristic Room," I wonder why?

Our very transparent shower, after. Never let them tell you trashy magazines are good for nothing.
Exciting Adventures on Friday: my Shakespeare class went to Stratford! We took a brief tour of the town, seeing exciting things such as the basement of Shakespeare's house, the chapel he probably went to if he was too lazy to walk to church, and his daughter's husband's house! This was unfortunately the least exciting part of the day, as it SNOWED. The ENTIRE TIME WE WERE OUTSIDE. I seriously thought I was going to get frostbite and have all my toes fall off. It was very WOE.
However, we then got a backstage tour of two of the theaters (which were back-to-back) which was pretty cool, even though those weren't the theaters we where were seeing a play. Then we ate dinner at a fish and chips place, which was delicious, and went to the Other Place Theater (PS, best name ever) to see Henry VI, Part 1, which was full of AWESOME. For costuming, they went for this vaguely-period look crossed with long swooping coats (always a good choice), and for staging, they evidently felt like Shakespeare wasn't vertical enough, so they had lots of climbing on ladders and swinging down from the ceiling. It was really cool. The acting was superb. Overall, the production was quite awesome, although you can really tell 1HVI was one of Shakespeare's early plays (and hence not as good as some of his other stuff). When someone recited the line about the "bad, revolting stars" I snickered and thought of Sandman.
In conclusion: it rocked on toast.
Anyways, I finally gave up and downloaded Heroes and SPooN. In the former, Peter continues to amuse me way too much, especially when he is being called a sponge or thrown off buildings. Actually, besides being awesome in itself, this made me laugh even more because it reminded me of MST 3K: Pumaman, and if any hero is going to fly like a moron, it's going to be Peter. Shockingly, I didn't really like the stuff with Hiro's dad ::gasp!:: because it felt really ... contrived. Hiro is still awesome, and Sulu being his dad is also awesome, but the way it was set up was eh. The show also has done nothing to persuade me that "Claude" isn't the Invisible Doctor. Heh.
I have come to the conclusion that Peter is going to take down Sylar, since they are the only two people with multiple powers and there are parallels and other superhero story-telling clues and crap. Never before has a supervillain had such an emo opponent.
I don't really have a lot to say about SPooN, actually, as there wasn't anything technically shocking about the episode (Sam is not actually evil; Dean does not kill him). I was intrigued by the stuff with Demon!Meg, since she seems to have moved from being an evil!Dean (daddy's little soldier, makes lots of off-color jokes, wears leather jackets, shot by brother, tied to chair, etc) to (literally and figuratively) being an evil!Sam (rebellious to dad's plans, wants vengeance, discovers arcane supernatural tricks, spouts Latin at a moment's notice, emo, etc). As for her revenge, I wonder how much of it is motivated by being exorcized and how much is motivated by Dean killingTargio, Male Model her brother, because a) I always thought he was kind of random, so it would be nice if he had some larger plot significance, b) it again would parallel Dean and his loyalty to his family and his can of whupass against whomever hurts them, and c) it would make her attempts to get him to shoot Sam very dramatically ironic. Or I could be wrong, and it could just be that demons just like to make Dean suffer, which is already canon.
Also, that was totally Ava's car. What does it all mean? Hmmmmmm?
Speaking of SPooN, what is more awesome than SPooN or the Weekly World News? SPooN AND the Weekly World News! This is totally the MOST AWESOME THING EVER. Don't read too closely if you don't want to be possibly spoiled for this week's episode though. I CANNOT WAIT. WWN/SPooN OTP4EVAOMG!!!!!1!3.14159265!!cos(0)!
In conclusion: The Chicken That Is Not a Chicken. Oh, Terry Goodkind. Sometimes you were actually kind of good, sometimes you suck, sometimes you are on crack, and sometimes, you are hilarious. I remember reading this on the bus on the way to school and almost dying from repressed laughter. Good times.
