Found in my father's mailbox at UDHS:
PA high school principals and counselors,
Some Penn State University athletic coaches, faculty, athletes, students and alumni have been involved with occult demonstrations, physical and sexual assaults, electronic harassment and other illegal activities that have harmed students of area high schools and universities. Abusive occult demonstrations have occured at Penn State near State College, PA since the 1970s at sports events, on the campus and in university classrooms, at local restaurants and bars, at parties and special activities, at alumni meetings, and at outdoor fairs and festivals. Groups of young adults and older adults were instructed in PSU educational and athletic facilities to be occult theatrical performers, to use illegal psychotronic sensing technology, to perform magic, and to teach mind control, witchcraft and the occult sciences.
Regional television and radio celebrities along with some Penn State officials and employees have coerced some students of area high schools and universities to be involved with their occult demonstrations, magic performances physical assaults, drug use, and electronic harassment using advanced technology and satellite communications. Several celebrities and technicians from ESPN and CNN have also been involved with these occult performances and electronic harassment.
The current president of Penn State travels around the northeast US with theatrical performers and the PSU Performing Magicians. Since 2001, he has also been promoting information about the occult through the Paranormal Research Center at Penn State. In recent years at the occult demonstrations and abusive parties, high school and university students were physically and sexually assaulted. Penn State athletes and others impersonating them were often at these abusive performances. Several professors from the PSU meteorology department were often observed using electronic and satellite harassment technology at these events.
Several Penn State faculty and former students have tried to involve young people from other high schools and universities in occult demonstrations, electronic harassment, physical assaults and other illegal activites. If you see or hear about this occurring, please contact the local and regional authorities for the protection of young adults and others of your area.
Dear concerned citizen:
I am almost certain that availing yourself to the substances mentioned HERE will solve most, if not all, of these problems. In the meantime, I would like to complement you on your very nice handwriting.
In Other News:
::doo doo-da-doo!:: I HAVE NO HAIR! Well, I have less of it, anyways. Now it is shoulder-length!
I actually like that the big secret wasn't a huge plot point of the story arc, but instead just another random and hard to interpret order from John. He died as he lived, completely messing with Dean's head. From the metatextual view, it was also good because it 1) confounded the audience's expectations, and 2) avoided any unnecessary soap-opera-y MELODRAMA. Observe:
Dean: Sam, just before Dad died, he told me something.
Sam: What?
Dean: You're [demonspawn/not human/the kin of Cain/not his real son/a Cylon/the one/the chosen one/the one who will bring balance to the Force/the boy who lived/other].
Sam: That's not true! THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE! ::woe!::
It's also really good at explaining Dean's angst this season, especially in"Crouton" "Croatian" "Croatoan". The last thing John told him was to keep Sam safe, or else he'd have to kill him, and what happens? He doesn't keep Sam safe, and now he has to kill him. He's not only doomed his brother, but failed to fulfill his dad's dying wish. Ouch. No wonder he's so resigned and full of woe. Poor Dean. Spoon has been really good at this whole back-continuity with characterization thing this season, where later revelations fit in perfectly with what we've already seen, and make it that much more clear. It's quite impressive really, given its typical difficulties in the good writing, making sense, and not having plot holes departments, but then again, characterization has always been one of the shows strongest point.
I must say that YED's plans for all the special children don't exactly fill me with a sense of overwhelming doom. First of all, I'm pretty skeptical that he would be able to just instantly convert everyone to the Dark Side. There's nothing to indicate that everyone's powers are innately evil, and while there have been some bad eggs (Andy's brother, Max), they were bad in a normal human range. Also, a little crazy. Not exactly Dark Overlord material. This means the demon would have to conscript people in more mundane ways. Sure, he could tempt some people no problem, but others would have to be coerced and threatened, and frankly, having an army of malcontented psychics is probably going to cause some trouble in the long run. Even if he tried to get them all possessed, there would be problems, what with the initial difficulty in possessing people, the difficulty in keeping them possessed (see: Winchester, John), and that pesky problem that everyone and their mother knowing how to exorcise demons.
Second of all, the psychics aren't really that scary. Their powers:
1) Mind control (if you can hear them or they know you're there)
2) Telekinesis (they can throw things at you)
3) Force Lightning (if they touch you)
4) Precognition (which mainly shows people dying and can't be controlled)
Basically, you would need at least four of them to equal one Jedi, and they still wouldn't have Jedi-fu or lightsabers. Not exactly the stuff of the apocalypse, especially if you know what to expect. They could definitely do a lot of damage one on one, but if you had enough distance or a big enough force, you could totally overwhelm them. Precognition can't even be used offensively. And without their powers, pretty much everyone except Sam is completely non-threatening. Even their personalities aren't that useful: Andy and Ava seem to be the least aggressive people ever, Emo-Electric boy would probably be more likely to hurt himself than others, Max had crippling emotional issues, and Webson was just generally nuts.
In conclusion: using only psychics would result in a really crappy Army of Darkness. Personally, I am much more worried about daeva-summoning demons and the entire town of virus!zombies hanging around somewhere.
Finally, I would like to comment that calling him "the Yellow-Eyed Demon" is unfortunate not only because it sounds kind of lame, but also because it sounds way too much like "Cotton-Eye Joe". The lyrics are even kind of appropriate. Bad techno does not equal good evil theme music.
