i was asked to write a poem on the human condition. i hope they appreciate it.

Haiku for the Prevention of Underage Poesy:
Or,
A Reaction to Teen Angst Poetry, A Publication of Enormous Embarrassment

They write long poems,
often in rhyming couplets,
that revel in angst.

Some works enlighten;
others plead for attention;
many stultify.

Our youth wastes itself,
caught in a vicious cycle
of bad poetry.

Once we knew rhyme schemes.
Oh, for the days of iambs
and terzerima.

Now, there is babble;
simplicity is ignored.
So I write haiku.
