Yesterday at work, I was paid $52 to read Chrétien de Troyes Revisited and watch MST3K: Escape 2000 on my iPod. Good times.

In case you haven't already figured it out, it's been a little slow recently.

In other news, I was happily devouring a fantasy novel when suddenly, 76 pages in, the font changed and I somehow found myself reading about the trials and tribulations of Laura, the intrepid heroine looking for love in A Kiss to Remember. I was somewhat less amused when I discovered that the inclusion of 30 pages of Regency schmoop meant that I was missing 30 pages of swashbuckling swordfighting, but humor has its price, I guess. If I didn't want to find out what happened in those 30 pages, I totally would have kept my book (which is Swordspoint, by the way; I can assure that the first 76 pages are good, at least). Am currently waiting for a call from B&N alerting me that my new copy is in with bated breath.

Apparently Amazon.com has this feature where authors can blog on their book pages? Interesting. Of course, without it I never would have read the thoughts of the chick who wrote the abovementioned romance novel, and I think my life would have been a little poorer for it:

The book begins when my heroine Lucinda Snow is abducted by the legendary pirate Captain Doom.  After a brief but passionate encounter on his ship, her navy admiral father hires the mysterious Gerard Claremont to protect her.  The book is sweepingly romantic and the image of Captain Doom melting out of the shadows can still make me swoon.  (If you want to hear his "theme", just listen to UNFORGIVEN by Metallica!)

Be sure to go here if you absolutley need to know Teresa Madeiros' thoughts on archetypes, nipples, and clean underwear!

In sadder news, it seems that the corporeal body of the Weekly World News is rapidly decaying, and will soon transfer its consciousness to a cybertronic medium. We can only hope the WWN's passion for truth and justice will prevail over the constant temptation to become one of the human-hating KILLER ROBOTS whose activities they so bravely reported.
