saw Phantom of the Opera, and indeed, gerard butler is really hot. even with his deformity, which just ruins the credibility. i mean, christine was practically drooling. he didn't have to kill anyone, he just need to swoop his cape a couple more times and she would have dived into his Swan Bed o' Lurve (tm). other than that, i thought it was an ok adaptation, although i wasn't terribly impressed with emmy rossum's singing. plus she looked too old, despite being younger than me. not quite sure how they pulled that one off. was, however, extremely amused by raoul, who with his flowing romantic locks looked a lot like austin. and the set and costumes were awesome.

it would be cool if someone adapted another version that stuck closer to the book, though. the musical is quite awesome, but andrew lloyd webber did romanticize a lot of stuff, and the book is quite kee-razy at times. it would certainly be interesting to see a different take. i might have to track down some of the old black and white versions to see how they did it.

Quote o' the Day:

gerard butler: ::swooshes cape::

yeah, i know it's not really a quote, but the gratuitous cape swooshing was pretty funny.
