shadydaveHOW DID I ENJOY A CHRIS CHIBNALL EPISODE OF DOCTOR WHO MORE THAN ONE WRITTEN BY TEH MOFF?
7.02 "Dinosaurs on a Spaceship"
So, Chibnall wrote both "Pond Life" AND this and didn't fail horribly. Has he grown as a writer, or is this a short-term fluke like his Torchwood ep with Spike and the Blowfish? More importantly, can we find some way to test this theory that doesn't involve him writing for shows I like?
The Bad:
- There were a lot of characters crammed in this episode, and I don't think that Nefertiti andLestrade Riddell Lestrade got their due. On the other hand, if you're going to have characters skate by on sheer awesome, Nefertiti and Lestrade are pretty good picks, so.
- Dear Chris Chibnall:
Please write awkward single entendres into ALL the DW episodes! Oh, wait, I mean PLEASE DON'T UGH.

- I was very eyebrow-raisy when the Doctor blew upFilch Solomon Filch. I mean, he DID commit genocide AND kick the puppy/shoot the triceratops and totes deserved it, but there were all those authority figures right there who could have prosecuted him. If we're going for a darker character arc for the Doctor this season, I guess it makes sense, but if we're not: wtf, Chris Chibnall.
- Duuuude Mitchell and Webb are WAY funnier than that.
The Awesome:
- DINOSAURS
- ON A SPACESHIP
- THE ONLY WAY THIS COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER IS IF SAMUEL L. JACKSON ALSO GUEST-STARRED
- RORY'S DAD IS MR. WEASLEY
- AMY HAS HER OWN COMPANIONS
- THEY'RE NEFERTITI AND LESTRADE
- THE TIE-IN WITH THE SILURIANS ACTUALLY MADE SENSE AND WAS COOL
- YAY NOW I HAVE SOMEONE TO SAVE ME FROM INACCURATELY-PORTRAYED RAPTORS:
- ON A RELATED NOTE: XKCD IS ALWAYS RELEVANT
