Guess where I ate lunch on Saturday?

Old Town Alexandria FTW.
I stayed with the lovely Laura this weekend, who also entertained Meera and me with this hilarious vanity romance novel website, whose free samples basically equal terrible romance Mad Libs. On Sunday, a whole bunch of us headed to NMAI, where we partook of the chocolate lectures/free samples. Note to general public: always eat at Mitsitam, their cafe. It is full of delicious.
Meanwhile, my pile of used post-it notes continued to grow at an alarming rate, so I made more roses. Have some instructions this time!
Post-It Roses: How to Win Friends and Influence People!
INGREDIENTS:
- far too many used post-its (mine were mostly cut in half already, though it also works for normal ones.)
- tape
- empty pens
- a slow day
1. Wrap note around uncapped pen tip at slight angle. Tape and remove from pen.

2. Wrap successive post-its around base in an upside-down truncated cone kind of way.

Wear a spoon ring for extra awesome.

Pro tip: Line up the ends to make a nice petal shape.
3. Tape post-its at an angle once the rose gets wider, so the corners poke above previous notes, and so that the body of the post-it flares out.

4. Take a really out-of-focus picture.

5. To make center bud: fold post-it around pen tip in a cone, sticky side facing AWAY from the pen.

Flip up end so the post-it doesn't cover too much of the pen. The sticky side should now face the pen.

Fold over and squish so it's fairly flush to the pen. Use lots of tape. Forget to take pictures of this part.
6. Insert bud into middle of bloom. Put on some Barry White if you feel uncomfortable.

7. The stem! Angle a post-it on one side at a more extreme angle so it touches both the pen and the bloom. Tape to both and secure the ends. Don't take a picture of this either.

Repeat for other side.

8. Repeat steps 1-7 until you run out of post-its.

Have fun with colors...

...and different shapes.
9. Arrange in a tasteful bouquet.

Tune in next week for discarded staple chain mail!
