it's still smeggin' cold!

took pictures after class this morning, before everything melted, or rather, made ominous cracking noises and then plummeted out of the trees at rather disturbing velocities.

i'm assuming i was trying to focus on the ice-covered branch, and not the sand-covered storm drain.

also? red dwarf is the best show ever. everyone should go watch it right now.

all free falling bodies accelerate at 9.8 m/s^2.

once again, very pretty pictures. especially the ice on the tree ones.

and then you have to factor in the force exerted by the tip of the icicle once it hits your head, since the smaller surface area will increase the pressure on your skull. except i think i'm mixing 2 terms in there. ah well. it is frightening to be brained by free-falling ice nevertheless. :D i much prefer it on the trees.

Keyword "accelerate." I'm assuming the icicles were very high up, being on trees, and therefore would have a lot of time to accelerate, creating the disturbingly high velocities. Plus, the pointy shape and density would cut down on air resistance.

:).

Also, YOU USED THE WORD SMEG. <<<<<<<<<<33333333333!!!!!!!!123123`3.1415926
